Event Description:

On Sunday, October 7 at 11:30 am, immediately following 10:30 am worship, Pastor Jon Christenson will hold Redeemer’s annual “Blessing of the Animals” outdoors at 11:30 am. This is a traditional day to give thanks for our furry (and not so furry) friends, as it is the day we commemorate St. Francis. St. Francis taught that all creatures are loved by God. No matter what your beliefs, he is a crucial figure to western civilization, indeed world culture, because of his huge love for the Creation and the Creator, preferring not to pick one or the other.

· Join us for a brief service, which includes a Remembrance of Souls, followed by individual pet blessings.

· Bring your dogs, cats, turtles, birds, lizards, fish, goats, horses, etc., for a special service of blessing. (Please have them on a leash or in a carrier.)

· FREE-WILL offering taken– 100% given to Bakersfield SPCA

We would like to continue our tradition during our Blessing of the Animals, where Pastor Jon reads a blessing inspired by St. Francis of Assisi and then reads the names of the beloved pets we have lost during the past year who are now waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

If you would like your pet’s name read during this ceremony, please call us at 661-832-7881 and leave a message with your Pet's Name and Your Name or Contact Us on our website at www.bakersfieldlutheran.org  All are welcome. Please join us.

You and your well-behaved pet are welcome at our 10:30 am traditional worship in the Sanctuary, too, on this Sunday.
