Event Description:

Charlotte Blake Alston, Master Storyteller will present a Family Storytelling Concert in celebration of Black History Month and the National Day of Literacy.  Charlotte Blake Alston from Pennsylvania is a storyteller, narrator, instrumentalist and singer who performs in venues through North America and abroad.  Charlotte has received numerous honors including the prestigious Pew Fellowship in the Arts.  She holds two honorary PhD's and received the Circle of Excellence Award from the National Storytelling Association.  This concert is sponsored by the Bakersfield African American Read-In Committee, Harlem and Beyond Planning Committee, and the Kern County Library.
